| Old Sewing Room |
This is my sewing room before we remodeled it. Go see my New Sewing Room as well, what a difference!
Below is a diagram showing the layout of my sewing room. It is 22 feet long by 9 feet deep. One corner functions
as a path between the kitchen and the back door. The numbered arrows show where I was standing and what direction
I was looking when I took the photographs below.
I can only fit about half my fabric into this room. The rest of it is stored in the attic. Most patterns are also
stored in the attic in 14 printer paper boxes. |

Below is picture 1. I am standing by the bookshelf looking at the cutting table. As you can see I have left
my sewing room in its natural state.
The little chest of drawers at the bottom of the picture contains embroidery supplies: floss, silk ribbon, beads,
projects in progress. Iron-on transfers and other embroidery designs/books are on various shelves. |

Picture 2. In this picture I am standing by the sewing machine
looking towards a fabric shelf. That white thing at the side is a corner
of my ironing board, which is setup next to the serger and cutting table.
The fabrics on this shelf are all knits. While this is not my entire
collection of knits, quite a lot of it is here. Notice the polarfleece
at the top. I have all the fabric in large, clear drum liners. One of my
cats came down with a bladder problem and decided to take her frustrations
out on my fabric. Since then everything gets packed
in bin liners.
You can see the "craft shelf" to the right. This shelf holds
some sewing notions as well as supplies for various crafts, including fabric
paints, an air brush, various tools, glues, etc... The sewing notions are
in shoe box sized containers with their contents labeled, e.g. velcro,
zippers, elastic, seams great/hem tap. Some
notions require multiple boxes: elastic (4), bias tape (2), zippers (2). |
