Here's the baby penguin suit. I started with Kwik Sew 2640,
a bunting pattern in the current books. I traced off
the outline of the bunting from the envelope. Then I
drew and redrew on the outline till it looked penguin-ish
to me. Using the drawing as a guide I cut the pattern front
into two pieces, the white center and black sides.
The back pieces is all black. Both are made of 200
weight polarfleece. The wings are long pointy ovals. The beak
and feet are made from yellow-orange felt and were hand stitched
to the bunting. The eyes are white felt circles with black buttons.
The face looks a little funny because its flat (no baby inside)
so the beak is kind of angled strangely.
The most difficult part of this project was getting the zipper
in nicely. Its the first time I've sewed with polarfleece.
I used basting tape to hold the zipper in while I sewed it.
For some reason the zipper foot kept wanting to crawl
off the zipper. I had to rip it out twice before I got it right.
